Demonstrating strong grassroots momentum for his candidacy, Pacheco submits more than 8,300 signatures for qualification

San Jose, CA – In a massive show of grassroots support, California School Employees Association Chapter 363 President Jose Luis Pacheco submitted 8,361 signatures from CalPERS members, more than 33 times the amount required to qualify his candidacy for CalPERS Board of Administration Position B. The seat is currently held by Margaret Brown.

Pacheco is uniquely qualified for this position as an experienced fiduciary officer. He is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union, where he provides fiduciary oversight, strategic guidance, transparency, and accountability for the credit union’s 51,000 members and their $955 million in assets.
The son of Watsonville farmworkers and a proud second-generation union member, Pacheco currently works as an IT Developer/Administrator for the San Jose Evergreen Community College District.
He has Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Biological Sciences from Santa Clara University and California State University, East Bay, respectively. He also has certificates in alternative investments from Harvard School of Business and advanced accounting proficiency from Santa Clara University.
