​In 2021, I ran for the CalPERS Board of Administration because I believe every public employee deserves to retire with dignity and security. As a proud union member of the California School Employees Association (CSEA), Chair of the Audit Committee for CSEA Chapter 363, and a CalPERS member, I understand firsthand how a strong pension provides peace of mind and the ability to plan for the future.

My passion for protecting our pensions and benefits is deeply personal. I grew up in Watsonville’s Pajaro Valley, the son of hardworking farmworkers who instilled in me the value of honest labor and the importance of standing up for others. My mother, a union member with the Communications Workers of America, was able to retire with financial security thanks to a defined benefit pension—a promise I am committed to defending for all CalPERS members.
